                                     AN ACT

 

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

     2     Statutes, further providing for speed timing devices.

 

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

     4  hereby enacts as follows:

     5     Section 1.  Section 3368(c)(2) of Title 75 of the

     6  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended and the subsection

     7  is amended by adding a paragraph to read:

     8  § 3368.  Speed timing devices.

    10     (c)  Mechanical, electrical and electronic devices

    11  authorized.--

    13         (2)  Except as otherwise provided in [paragraph (3)]

    14     paragraphs (3) and (3.1), electronic devices such as radio-

    15     microwave devices (commonly referred to as electronic speed

    16     meters or radar) may be used only by members of the

    17     Pennsylvania State Police.

     2         (3.1)  Electronic devices such as radio-microwave devices

     3     that are commonly referred to as electronic speed meters or

     4     radar may be used by full-time local police officers who have

     5     been trained in the use of radar in a program approved by the

     6     Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police for speed

     7     detection in any school zone or public park of the State or a

     8     municipality.
